Interactive Renal Pathology Learning Exercise

Crescentic Glomerular Injury: Describe Before You Diagnose

Learning objective: Systematically identify, describe, and interpret an active glomerular lesion while avoiding an unsupported etiologic diagnosis.

Educational simulation only. This exercise is not intended for clinical diagnosis or patient-care decision-making.

Clinical context

A 64-year-old patient presents with rapidly worsening kidney function, microscopic hematuria, and proteinuria. A kidney biopsy is performed. Review the light-microscopy image before viewing immunofluorescence, electron microscopy, or serologic findings.

Information intentionally withheld

  • Immunofluorescence results
  • Electron microscopy findings
  • ANCA testing
  • Anti-GBM antibody testing
  • Complement levels

These findings are initially withheld so that the learner describes the morphology before assigning an etiologic diagnosis.

BiopsyIQ supports deliberate visual practice, structured reasoning, and educator-guided feedback in renal pathology education.
